Pre Health to PN at different schools

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hi everyone

Im am currently a medical Aesthethician, looking to get into a PN program however I graduated high school in 2007 and don't have the required grades to go directly into a PN program. My Medical Aesthetics Diploma grades don't get me straight into a PN program because I did it at a private college. I know my options are to either do adult school and upgrade or do a pre health program but my question is:

Does anyone know if you take a pre health program at one college, can I use to gain acceptance to a PN program at a different college? I applied to Durhams Health Prep ONLINE as well as Mohawks Pre Health. (They had space available for September)

I ideally would like to attend George brown or Sheridan for PN just because of the locations but they didn't have availability for September start dates, obviously since this is such a last minute thing.

Ive contacted GB and Sheridan I'm waiting to hear a reply I'm just wondering if anyone here has this sort of experience because the answers from the colleges are usually very generic since they probably want to cover their butts and don't want to guarantee any future acceptance.

Any feedback is much appreciated:)

Pre-health programs tend to be structured to support the health science programs from that particular school so whether another school is willing to accept it or not you really have to contact the schools your interested in applying to. Economically it is more cost effective to gain or upgrade any missing pre-req courses through adult day, night or even online through ILC depending on what type of learner you are. Even after completing a pre-health program your high school grades will still be assessed to determine whether you gain admission into the program. If you decide to bridge and transition into the BScN, depending on the school they may require you to have high school pre-req courses.

Thanks for this info! I didn't know about ILC I will look into this for sure. I assumed a pre health program would be considered a higher level of education and more likely to get me into a PN program but it seems the high school courses are what really matters. If only I wasn't such a dunce back then!
