Hello.

I was hoping to get some advice from anyone already in the BScN programme at GBC. I went to university in Europe, but I'm fairly new to the Canadian system. We have to register for classes soon and I was wondering how many would be best to take or if we are given much leeway in this regard? I read that 5 to 6 is generally the amount per semester. Any other advice or information would be greatly appreciated from fellow newbies or more seasoned GBC students.

I'm also starting the BScN program at George Brown this fall! :)

From what I understand, we will be required to register for our 6 core classes and a liberal elective for our 1st semester:

NSE11A - Nursing Theory I: Theoretical Foundations of Nursing

NSE12A - Nursing Practice I: Introduction to Nursing Practice

NSE13A - Nursing: Assessment of the Healthy Individual

BLG10A - Human Anatomy and Physiology

FNN111 - Nutrition for Nursing Practice

PSY102 - Psychology of Individual Human Behaviour

1 Liberal Studies Elective

I found the Ryerson collaborative nursing program calendar to be very helpful in outlining the courses, you can have a look at it here: Ryerson University : Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Ryerson/Centennial/George Brown Collaborative Nursing Degree Program

I don't think there is any leeway in how many classes we choose to take as the above are mandatory to pass 1st year. However, you can apply for transfer credits if you took university-level classes before. I'm not sure what their policy is for classes taken overseas, but probably worth a try.
