SJSU Spring 2014

U.S.A. California

Anyone else who applied for SJSU's Spring 2014 nursing program?

Does anyone know how the impaction scores work? Do they round up or down....for example is a 7.522 considered a 7.52 while a 7.529 is considered a 7.53?

Definitely enjoy your winter break while it lasts and spend time with all of your friends and family before you go MIA in nursing school! Haha. First semester can be somewhat of a difficult transition but you have your classmates to support you through it all! Definitely get to know the people in your class and also think about becoming an officer for your class. It'll look good on your resume having this leadership skills in nursing school. And definitely become members of the various nursing clubs. You'll probably end up being involved in more than 1.

First semester will go by really fast! I don't want to talk about any tips too much on here, but feel free to email/Facebook me! [email protected]

@quaaack I took it during Fall 2012. I think it depends how familiar you are with using SJSU's research guides and research articles. For me, it was my first class really utilizing research articles, so I did feel stressed at times. I think I would have definitely felt overwhelmed if I took that class and nursing classes (back then) because I was so unfamiliar with that type of English class. However, because of that class, I have no problem writing my long research papers this semester. If I have to take a similar 100W class along with nurses classes in the future, I will be ready due to previous experience. If you have experience summarizing and combining details of multiple research articles, then you should be fine. I suggest taking it with Bondi. She was very understanding and provided multiple opportunities for extra credit.

@FTF4 I'm not sure how they round, but I am pretty sure you're getting in because my friend got accepted and her score was around 7.45

Definitely try and take 100W your first semester if you haven't because you don't wanna take it in your second semester of nursing school once it gets hectic. They might not offer it in the summer! I heard last summer they had to cancel it because not enough people enrolled. You also have the option to petition and take 100W later on but you have to go through a whole process to do so

Got the acceptance letter today! Man, what a stressful month.

Good luck to everyone else!

Ahhh, I got my acceptance letter too! I'm so excited to meet all of you =)

I got a pending status and the letter says cutoff is 7.2. Mine is 7.17 that's why. Just for those who want to know lol. I guess if someone drops I can get in but I hope everyone has a great thanksgiving!!!!

Do you guys know if anyone is dropping the program? It'd be such a relief to know!!

Are any of you guys transfer students going to SJSU orientation on Dec 10th?

@McMellohs I'm a transfer student and am going to orientation that day. You too?

@bananaxmilk and tphambam Thanks for the suggestions! :)

@quaaack Yupp I'll be there Dec 10th! It'll be interesting to see if we'll still be with the pre-nursing majors.
