SFSU worthy?

U.S.A. California

I want SO badly for SFSU's nursing program to help me achieve my dreams of being a nurse and doing what I love: helping others. I really have not wanted anything so bad in my entire life because I heard the campus and faculty are AMAZING, including the NCLEX passing rates! I know it be won't easy getting in, however, I really am interested in feedback or words of encouragement from those who were fortunate enough to get in and from those who have applied to SFSU. I currently do volunteer work at a hospital in Southern California, but I may not have enough hours to have a letter by the Nursing School app deadline. I have roughly around a 3.6-3.7 GPA, a 84.7% TEAS score, I speak 3 languages, and have multicultural experience.

When exactly are nursing applications for the Fall 2012 cohort due?

Any feedback is appreciated. :) Thank you!

I just sent my papers for the Spring 2012. Is it too late?

what papers? You might want to call the school of nursing to clarify with them.

SFSU School of Nursing does not take letters of recommendations as far as I remember. I was accepted and start Spring 2012.

Do they tell you that you are accepted right away? I've just submitted my papers to the graduate admissions and the nursing department for the Spring 2012. Is that too late?

Did you submit the GRE writing score? Is it possible to make only writing, but not the Math part of the GRE? Can I submit the result after admission period ends?

Thanks a lot!

6) Do you have any letters of recommendations? Must be from either a teacher/counselor or a supervisor from work. If not, you MUST get at least 1 and have them say exceptional things about you as a person and as a student/worker.

Hey Angel, I wasn't aware that SFSU SON accepted letters of recommendations.... I thought they only took in letters that verified one's activity in multicultural or healthcare experience (paid/volunteered)?

I think you are too late for Spring 2012. You need to contact the School of Nursing so they can answer all your questions. You need to look at their website and everything is there on how to apply and what exactly is needed. It's not that difficult.

Also, when I attended an info session they clearly stated that letters of recommendation were not accepted. The only letters they were taking were those verifying volunteer work, multi-cultural experience, and healtcare experience.

Well I'll put it this way...if you're having somebody write you a letter verifying your volunteer work, multi-cultural experience, and health care experience, wouldn't it be to your benefit to have them include something extra about what a hard worker/good person you are? It may not be an extra letter, but having them include something aside from how many hours you put in would turn it into a letter of recommendation as well. Again, it couldn't hurt you...as evidenced by the fact that I'm in the program and my letter had recommendation in it as well as experience verification. ;)

Also, why does it seem like including a hypothetical letter of recommendation is such a bad thing? If they're really not counting it, then they'll throw it out...they won't throw out your application, especially if the letters are separate. The key is to think outside of the box and try to set your application apart from hundreds of others. And if that means having a dual letter of verification/recommendation or 2 separate letters, then so be it. just my 2 cents...

PS. I really don't wish to further debate this point. You (Bzepeda) and I were both accepted into the program. We obviously had very different applications and did things differently. So let's agree to disagree.

Hello! I am a freshman undergraduate about to start my first year of college at SFSU+ with goal to get into the SFSU school of nursing. Just out of curiosity, what did you do that year between 2010 and 2011 before getting accepted into the program?
