Sacramento State Nursing program

U.S.A. California

I need advice! I am deciding whether to attend American River college or Sac State for nursing school. I just wanted to know if anyone is currently in one of these nursing BSN programs. I haven't heard of anyone mentioning Sac State nursing program. Is the program hard to get in? Any advice is greatly appreciated...

I teach in that program, it is GPA based admission, the ADN programs in the area are lottery admission based. Of course I believe it is better to get a BSN rather than an ADN, it takes about the same amount of time and it gives you more options in the long run. Good luck!

Well I am a nursing student who is not yet in the program, the route I am going is I am doing all of my Prerequisites at Sac City College (cause I believe the classes are probably a little easier than at Sac State) and then I am going to apply for the BSN Program through Sac State. A BSN I think is a better route to go because I figure if your doing it now you may as well keep going till its really done. There are many reasons I want the BSN Degree

1. More money

2. Better Position

3. Close to having a Masters

4. Much more qualified for just about any job in your specific field.

5. In much more of a demand.

My goal is to get the BSN Degree through Sac State and then Work while I continue to get my Masters, so that I have many many options. Like for instance

1. Work for the Hospital as an R.N.

2. Open my own practice with a Dr. Partner (I want to be a Mid-Wife)

3. And if I get tired of being a nurse, well then I could teach nursing at a college

How about that for options in Life? :)

I am currently in the American River Program. I am just finishing up my first semester and I love it. The first semester instructors are wonderful and very helpful. We started with a very large class of 80 students. ARCs program is lottery based and you may have to apply more than once. If you can get into the Sac State program and can afford it, then go for it. The AA program is less expensive but harder to get in due to the lottery. But keep all of your options open. I applied to both Sac City and ARC for the Fall 05 programs and luckily was accepted to ARCs. Whatever you decide, good luck!:nurse:

Glad, I found this information, about American River, Sac State, or

was it Sac City?

I am currently attending school, for Medical Assistanting, and will

continue later on for nursing. But, I always thought that , if you

wanted to go to nursing school, and person could just go. American

River , will be my choice, so thanks for the info, on lottery based,

and the instructors are helpful.
