New Grad RN with over 100 applications out.

U.S.A. California

Published

I have been out of school since last December (with my BSN) and licensed since last February. I have applied to public health positions, psychiatric wards, skilled nursing homes, clinics, all the new grad programs i was aware of (in state and out of state - I'm from CA), and every attempted registries. I have submitted over 100 applications out with only 3 call backs, 3 interviews (they chose more experienced candidates - BUT I'M A NEW GRAD APPLYING FOR A NEW GRAD POSITION.. my experience should be minute).

I know that these posts are a run of the mill here.. but I just don't know what else to attempt. I know that there will be a job out there for me eventually.. but I just want to see if I missed any possible opportunities. I've been fairly desperate for work and I have been applying everywhere that would accept my lack of experience AND those that "prefer" a year of experience.

Would anyone have some words of advice on where else I should try applying? or if I should just consider a job at the local best buy until I can get my hands on an RN position..?

Many thanks,

The motivated but losing hope RN. :o

I am too a new grad and interviewed with LA County back in March. I passed the interview and they told me I would have to call around to the various hospitals to see if they are hiring. I now have a job at another hospital but I received a call from LA+USC to see if I was interested in setting up an interview for a RN position. I would try LA County if you haven't applied there, although the process can take some time.
