Help.....In a Dilemma about licensing

U.S.A. California

Hello All-

I believe I have a dilemma. Hopefully someone can help me out.

I will be graduating on May 11th from UNLV in Las Vegas, and will be trying my best to get an IP by June 11th, that is the start date of my new job. After calling the Board today, I am afraid I wont recieve it in time to start my job as a new grad RN.

After my transcripts get mailed to the Board, figure no later than May 20th, is it possible that I will get an IP by June 11th?

What should I do?

I had an idea, to attempt to apply for another license in another state that is one of the NURSYS compact states? They only require an affidavit to be signed by the dean/director of the school of nursing. And then I could overnight it to the Board. Would I have a better chance of getting an ATT quicker from them, take the NCLEX and pass, then go to Sacramento for a temporary license, all by June 11th? Is that possible.

I am starting to stress out now. Please help me. I need some input.

From what I've heard, the time to process applications at the BORN varies. I would maybe talk to your manager at your new job to discuss your concerns--maybe you can attend your orientation (like classroo setting) without having your IP or license in hand. Sometimes managers will also let you work in a CNA type role before you become licensed.
