U.S.A. California

Hi all,

I have applied at CSUSM for Spring 2013 Cohort, I am currently taking my last chem lab. I pray and hope that I get accepted. Please share your stories and progress....Thanks.

Congrats! I looked on facebook if there was a cohort spring 13 group but there was none set up yet. Should we make one now? :]

We could definitely make one, and maybe post the link to the FB page here? Or do you think we should just wait until orientation, or when more people post their acceptances? Either way! Someone is going to have to make one at some point!

I guess we will wait til more people post their acceptances. and when orientation dates come around, we can make a page to meet up and etc! :]

Hi CSUSM10,

Since you are in a current cohort I have a question. . . how does financial aid work? Are grants given or are there only loans available?

Hello Everyone! I've been accepted to the Spring '13 ABSN Cohort for the San Marcos campus. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone else in the cohort! If anyone is curious about my particular timeline, I applied in July and submitted my final transcript (O-Chem) two weeks ago.

I know our program is under the "extended learning" branch, so thankfully, our program is not impacted. Do we share the same facilities as the generic nursing program? The general BSN program is impacted and I'm trying to determine how or if that'll affect us.

Definitely not trying to come across as snobby. However, I've been taking classes at a community college and due to budget cuts, we almost never have adequate lab equipment, glassware, specimens, etc. It would be pretty disappointing to spend our simulation time standing over each other and only watching because we don't have enough equipment for smaller groups.

If anyone has questions about the application process, I'd be happy to share my experience.

Hi Peacec,

Congratulations, when did you receive the acceptance email? I submitted my O-chem transcripts three weeks ago and I was hoping to get my acceptance this month. Please share your GPA for your prereqs, last 60 and Teas V.

Anybody else willing to share please let me know so that I can gauge myself. I am thinking may be I should resit the Teas exam. I passed but I feel like that is the only thing that I can do to hike up my points.

you can get loans. There are a lot of people who are doing that. If you're at San Marcos, you will use the same labs as the BSN. If you're at Temec, you use the Temec lab which is not as great as San Marcos, but it's good enough to do what you need to do.

hi! this was my stats:

Major: Nutrition Sciences

Last 60: 3.1

Pre req GPA: 3.8

TEAS score: 84.7

TEAS percentile: 99

my total points was a 27

Thanks for sharing lanibear, I think I will resit my teas. I have a 76.9. My GPA for prereqs and last 60 is around 3.5. If I am doing it right. Did you ask them about the GPA's and calculation to be sure of what they were using or you just calculated it yourself?

Be sure you calculate your last 60 based on whether or not you were on a semester or quarter system. And your last 60 counts all of the classes that fall in the semester in which your last 60th unit falls. So if your last 60 units was Fall 2010 semester (or quarter), you need to factor in all of those classes (so you may in fact be calculating your last 61 or 62 units).

Hi everyone,

I was accepted to the Temecula campus a few days ago. I am so excited to finally start nursing school. Good luck to rest of you guys who are still waiting! I know the wait is tiresome since I had been through it myself.

Does anyone know how full the spring cohorts are currently? One of the advisors told me that I needed to retake the TEAS exam to improve my score. I'll be taking it in 2 weeks. But I'm hoping by the time I submit my score, the cohorts won't be super filled :/

Hi everyone! I'm so excited! I've been accepted to the Spring 2013 cohort for the San Marcos campus! Can't wait to meet you all! Good luck to everyone still waiting and congrats to everyone that has been accepted. I'm really nervous to start but at the same time very anxious.

@kaolla: I'm not sure if the cohorts are full, but I know they were sending out emails and letters on Friday. Who knows...some people may decline their offer. I think I've read from past posts that some people didn't even find out until a week before classes started. Good luck on the TEAS!
