CSULB Spring 2012 nursing program

U.S.A. California

Hey guys. was just wondering if any of you can clear out some of the questions i have regarding the nursing program for the spring 2012 at CSULB.

STATS:

science gpa 3.23

foundation/ge: 4.0

individual: 96.7

math:100

i am a student at CSULB and i currently have a 9.1 out of the 10 nursing point to get into the program. i have been reading quite a few threads from this site and cant help but notice how most of you have a 9.3-9.6 point scale and im getting pretty nervous now. Knowing that CSULB only takes 90 students per semester, are my chances of getting into the program high? i know that my science gpa is not that impressive but taking those classes at csulb (despite what other people say) are more challenging.

so my questions include..

1. Do they look at our POINTS collectively or our scores in separate categories (science gpa, teas, foundations, etc) as basis for admission?

2. Are they taking transfers for Spring 2012?

3. Do they tell you if you are an alternate during the interview?

4. Since i am officially on educational leave for Fall, i was thinking if i volunteered at a hospital, would that somehow be like an incentive (or more like an extra credit) for boosting up my chances?

@ Jmarc10 Congrats!! (= What was your total points out of 10?

I also got an email! I have the interview on the 10th at 11:00!

i have a 9.1 out of 10

I also got an email on the 5th for the interview, which was my birthday so I was incredibly happy. I set mine up for the 10th at 11 in room 36 I believe. I'm feeling pretty good about it because I got a 9.63 out of 10 on the application.

4.0 Science Prereq

3.6 General Prereq

92% on TEAS

100% on Math TEAS

are you a nontransfer? you have a very impressive score! good job!

how are the alternates chosen?

Thank you! Your scores are impressive as well. I transfered in for the current semester as a chemistry major just in case they wouldn't accept transfers for Spring 2012, and so that I could get used to the area and the school.

Not feeling too good about the interview. I'm really hoping it only plays a small part in their decision. Good luck everyone! Hopefully I didn't f myself over and will end up seeing you in the Spring.

@Flying- what happened that made you feel badly about it?? :/

I didn't have enough time to finish the short-writing part and everyone else was eager to get their answers out so I was always last to answer questions in the group discussion. And with one of the questions, they moved on to the next question before I could get a chance to answer the question. I should have said something but I don't like interrupting people. I dont know, I am probably over-reacting but I just really want to get in. Somehow I have to tone down my worriedness since we wont hear back from them for 3-4 weeks.

I just took my interview this morning for spring 2012 basic trimester. Was anyone in a group whose video was malfunctioning and didn't get a chance to watch it for the writing portion of the interview? I feel like I'm at a disadvantage and was not able to show my full potential because we were expected to write based strictly on our knowledge. I only wrote two sentences to complete a "paragraph" because without the video, I didnt have much to write about. Anyone in the same position? I'm going to call and ask if they are going to take that into consideration because compared to those who watched the video... my paragraph STINKKKKKKKKKS

Eek, I'm sorry guys. :/ Yeah I'd probably call and make sure they know your group didn't have a functioning video! That's scary I hope it doesn't happen to me tomorrow, like we need one more thing to stress over!!! LOL. How many people were in your interview group?
