Hey there! Time to actually apply to the program right? I'm wondering, do we send everything into one packet? ATI seems like they send their scores electronically, and its basically the same thing you would print it online (total rip off BTW) So any ideas?

What packet are you talking about? Is there anything we need to turn in besides a physical copy of their application?

yea i am ordering mine right now. hopefully i can send them in asap! i am just worried about the university decision. i applied to the university back in october and received an email stating that they dont want ANY transcripts or anything until feb (which is AFTER they make first cut decisions!) how in the world can you 'cut' people out of the school if havent looked at their transcripts?!?!?!

How long do transcripts take before you can receive them? How much? Are they mailed to us or do they have to be picked up? There are somethings I want to finalize before I order my transcript.

I haven't received mine for Fall 2011 from CSULB yet but I turned in the form on the week of finals and notified them to send it after Fall 2011 grades were inputted. From other colleges it took max 5 business days to recieve them.

Hey all.... I've been kinda lurking on AN for some time, and wanted to finally reach out to some good folks. To cut to the chase, I'm a stay-at-home dad, and will be until my fourth child (due next week) is in the first grade or so. Awhile, let's put it that way.
When I get back in the workforce, I plan on completing the BSN at CSULB. What I would like to do is, between now and then, to get the materials and learn/review/memorize/understand/etc everything before I get there. High hopes maybe, but I have about 7-10 hours a week to study, so why not put them to use?
Here's the ask---would you consider letting me copy your notes/tests/materials (at your convenience) so I can learn them on my own over the next few years? I'm sure the information will be 90-95% the same by the time I get into the actual classroom.
I live in the immediate area, so I'd be happy to work around your schedules. Your consideration is greatly appreciated...
    Thanks for reading...

    Hi WholeLottaField,

If you're planning to take all of the pre-reqs at CSULB, I would recommend emailing the professors of the pre-req sciences (CHEM140, MICR200, BIO207, BIO208) and asking them for the course syllabus. I am not sure if they would be willing to send it a non-student, but with the syllabus you can see which chapters to go over and what to focus on. I did not take BIOL207/208 (Anatomy and Physiology) at CSULB and the curriculum was probably different at CSULB than at the school I took it. As for the other GE pre-reqs, there isn't that much you can prepare for (math, english, critical thinking etc.) It would be most helpful to focus on the sciences.

As for the GE pre-reqs, you can also get those done online through a community college which is a lot cheaper than at CSULB. I took history online and transferred those units to CSULB to satisfy the requirements. This can probably be done for a lot of the other GE reqs. Hope this helped!

Thanks so much... I have plenty of time, so I'm going to drill down and figure out what's the best options for me.

Basically, I have been acquiring the syllabi bit by bit for the prereqs, those I'm not that concerned with, as I already have a BA and have always loved A&P.

It's the actual nursing school information that I would love to have.

I have yet to find a comprehensive audio course that goes through the entire nursing program, and that would be my golden egg.

My plan is to get the actual notes for the class, read and record them so I can listen to them while I drive, cook, laundry, etc... if I did that for 5 years before actually stepping foot into the classroom, I would hope I'd be prepared. I'm a stay-at-home dad, but I don't watch soaps -this is going to be my soaps.

I appreciate your reading, and your thoughts.
