CSULB ELM 2013 Hopefuls!

U.S.A. California

Hey!

Just wanted to start a thread for those of you planning to apply for the 2013 ELM cohort! Let's hope funding goes through and the program will be good to go for next fall!

So excited! Look forward to seeing/hearing from those who will also be applying! Good luck :)

for the supplemental application, is the only thing that we have to send in the application form itself? and that's it?!

Current ELM6 cohort member here.

@jsuwan001: I don't believe there will be an interview for ELM prospective students. ELM6 did not have any.

@jcsong: It looks like it's just the application to the School of Nursing and nothing more. I also don't think there will be any additional information meeting. If you have more questions, contact --------------- or ask here.

Shout out to malefocker! and chouxpastry! (Is that you, EB?)

 I'm a foreign BSN graduate, with 4 years of ICU experience. I WORK in VA long beach. I am planning to apply for the FNP/ AGNP program in cal state long beach. I am a lttle confused with the whole process and dont know where to start... so here are my questions.

1. Do i need to take an english profeciency test? (I am a us citizen, my transcript was evaluated already)

2. do i need to take the pre-requisit (community health, physical assessment, patho) before I apply for the program. i graduated 2008

3. are the pre req offered in csu-lb?

thanks

Did anybody here ever receive confirmation that their application was received by the school? I e-mailed ------- a few days ago asking if she had received my application (which I sent at the beginning of March) but she never responded. I'm wondering if that is because the school is on spring break right now or maybe she didn't receive it. I am a little worried.

Give it some more time. I emailed her too and she eventually responded telling me that she got my mine.

Do I have a chance of getting into the elm program with 9.17 points out of 10? You'd think it's a good score but i feel like its low considering the competition. What do you guy know about past applicants and what do you guys think?

Where are all of the elm applicants? This forum is so quiet. Anywho, only a few more weeks until we find out!!

@pinkstarz I've been checking this forum daily to see if anyone has heard anything, I'm guessing most people won't post until we do start to hear! I have to admit I'm a little nervous because ------------ never did get back to me about having received my application but I'm hoping since I sent in my official transcripts and TEAS scores and everything it'll be fine.

As for your questions about 9.17 points I'm really not sure, I was looking on the website at the statistics they posted for ranges they accepted in the past and it really did seem to range from lowish scores to people with 4.0s...right now I would say it's anybody's guess! I just wish I knew how many people applied this year so I could know my chances!

This may sound like a really stupid question... but does anyone know how long the entire program is? Is it 4 years or 3 years? A while ago they posted that they are splitting the prelicensure component and MSN component into 24 months and 24 months, and now the new brochure for the 2016 cohort says its 16 month and 18 month. I'm really confused. And does anyone know how we will be hearing back? Letter? Email? Phone? The lack of communication on the SON's part is a little frustrating...

I was under the impression that the program is 4 years, maybe they're changing the format for the 2016 cohort but I don't think they are for the 2013, but I could be wrong I'm just guessing! And if I recall correctly the original brochure said we would be notified by mail by May 15 if we get in, but as for if they're inviting us for an interview who knows, my guess would be e-mail. That is much easier when it comes to scheduling. Honestly, my guess is everything will end up being via e-mail because that is just easier for the school. All the other schools I have heard back from let me know via e-mail so I wouldn't be suprised if LB does, as well. I definitely agree the lack of communication is definitely frustrating...everything just seems so up in the air

hmm it's so strange that they would change the program to be 4 years for the 2013 cohort but back to 3 years for the 2016... I don't remember what the 2013 brochure said exactly, but the newly posted 2016 brochure did say that applicants will be hearing back by the 3rd week of April. And I was looking back to the 2011 thread, and it seemed like people began to hear back around that time. Hopefully we will hear back next week...

What are your top choices for nursing school? Csulb is my last hope! Hope it's good news for me. I've been anxious since Monday. I hope we find out as early as possible!
