Hello,

The application for CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2010 is due Friday April 2nd! Get your stuff in! Has anybody that has submitted already, gotten a confirmation back or heard anything. I submitted the first week in March and nothing for me yet. I hear there will be an interview for the first time this year. Goodluck everyone!! I got impatient waiting for someone to start a thread for us applicants...so I just did it :)

Oh wow congrats on getting into CSUN I read somewhere that it was REALLY tough to get in there!

Ooops!! I meant to post this to the CSUF forum. KRomney, no wonder you were asking if I got into CSUF or CSULB.

CHECK YOUR E-MAIL!!! I've been accepted!! :yeah::yeah::yeah:

The deadline date for accepting fall 2010 admission is April 23, 2010.

Fall semester classes will begin August 21, 2010 and a mandatory EL-MSN student orientation will be scheduled prior to the start of fall semester.

Did anyone that applied to CSULB for the EL-MSN receive a confirmation for the nursing department that they received their application?

Nope, the nursing department does not send anything out until the acceptance/WL/rejection letters come. If they need anything from you, they'll contact you personally. I guess we'll all be waiting until May to find out!

Ok, thats what I thought I just wanted to make sure! Ahhhh its so close yet so far!

Meems, did you apply to LB last year? And have you accepted CSUF or Georgetown? Your so lucky to have choices! Congrats!

I spoke with -------- when I went to take my TEAS test. She says that the letters will be sent out before she goes on vacation at the end of April....so two more weeks!

Meems, I'm in the same situation as you, choosing between CSUF and holding out hope for CSULB....but I don't think the LB decision will be out before the Fullerton deadline.

KRomney- I did apply last year to LB, but with micro in progress so I think that screwed me over? I had all A's and micro in progress & that didn't get me in so I'm guessing micro is what didn't get me in?

To answer your question, I did get into CSUF & Georgetown so I'm still trying to decide which one. I applied for an 80% scholarship a GTown so that'll have a deciding factor also. Even if I get into CSULB, i will NOT be going. My sister went through the program 2 years ago and seeing what she had to endure has made me really evaluate if CSULB is really the program for me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Wow Meems, I can't believe you didn't get in with your grades thats really too bad, but I guess it was a good thing since your re-evaluating if its even the right school for you. If you don't mind me asking, what has drawn you away from CSULB that your sister went through?

I feel like a lot of the applicants that got into CSUF are waiting for CSULB decisions, so what happens if we don't hear by the deadline for CSUF? Are you guys stuck with CSUF or can you still back out? Thanks for the support Meems I really appreciate it, I wish my application looked like yours haha! I have three B's!

At first, I was disappointed that I didn't get in, but now that I look back, it was a blessing! Well, all the classes at CSULB are between 4-6 weeks (pre-licensure 16 months vs. csuf 18 months). I'm hoping that those extra 2 months will benefit me! I'm a slow learner so I need all the time I can get! I can't imagine going through pharm in 4 weeks... Either way, both programs are INTENSE, but actually seeing my sister wake up at the crack and dawn to study until late at night has changed my mind about csulb. I guess you don't realy know what you're getting into until you go through it yourself or watch someone else go through it.

The thing about CSUF is that you DON'T receive a BSN which is a drawback that I'm gonna have to deal with if I decide to go to CSUF.

On the acceptance email, there was no deposit due, so I'm guessing that everyone will accept and if they decide CSULB, then they'll email melanie and let her know that they've changed their mind.

Wow Meems, congrats on those schools and the decisions :) I too would also like to know what your sister thought of the program. From what I hear, it is really really intense. I think they keep you super busy, so maybe that's what your talking about. I would love to hear more info as well as CSULB is my first choice!!!

Thanks for responding, you did a second before me. Wow, yeah that's what I expected. I actually thought that was a bonus though the 4-6 weeks, I find that it forces me to study every day and I actually retain more information that way then spreading it out over a semester. For me its not really the BSN part that matters so much (like you said its 16 months vs. 18 months), but its the masters portion where Fullerton does not offer any certifications during that time and CSULB has a lot of options available and that tells me a little more. Man, we all have lots of stuff to think about.

noo problem! Yeah, I really think that it depends on your personality and what kind of background you have. My sister had a B.A. in liberal studies so it was difficult for her vs. her classmates who had a B.S. in a science related field. I was talking one of my professor's (a doctor) and she said that she prefers a faster pace course for the exact same reasons you just said. Again, it just depends on your personality type. You're lucky you like the fast paced courses! I think i'm more like a snail/slug when it comes to that!
