UAMS- summer 2010

U.S.A. Arkansas

Looks like the UAMS deadline is fast approaching, looking to see who all waiting to find out status for starting the BSN program summer 2010. Good luck to all awaiting.

yeah im hoping its just the mail. I dont think they will take a 2.5 this year...unless a lot of people dont accept or hold their seat. There is just no way 466 people had all the 64 hours of pre-recs so thats also cut down a lot of applicants. Keeping my fingers crossed until the mail comes monday!

Anyone get a letter today? I heard from a very reliable source that they sent out 3.1 GPA and higher. But i dont understand what the whole "rounds" thing means? Do they send out all 200 spots at first or send out only 100 in the first round and the next 100 in the second round? does anybody know?

did anyone hear anything else about the admissions? The wait is killing me. I really want to know ASAP if I'm admitted, or rejected. Is there only two rounds??

I heard they are still working on the second round and the letters may not be mailed until Friday. What is your GPA? Im just trying to see how many people are in the same boat I am. And yes there is only 2 rounds.

wow really? I checked today and was really disheartened. I am one of those w/ fingers crossed as I have a lower GPA, around 2.8 and am just hoping I can squeeze in, but I'm fully prepared for the worst and have a realistic idea. There are just so many competitive individuals. :o Where are you hearing all this, do you know someone who works there!!? I don't care anymore, I just want an acceptance or rejection letter so I'm not checking my mail every single day for an answer lol.

I started there last summer and in our class they did take down to a 2.5, I'm pretty sure. One of the instructors told us that this year though they had a lot more applicants around 400 or so so they would have to raise the cut off to around a 3.0 Sorry I don't know any more. If you have any questions about the program I'll be glad to answer. Good luck to all.

they'll keep filling spots until there are no more to fill... so i wouldn't say there is only "two" rounds. if they fill all of their spots with this batch, yes.. that's it. otherwise.. people will be getting called up a few weeks before school starts. it's a business.. they want the revenue from a FULL class.

Thanks for all the answers guys! I'll just remain hopeful, and just keep waiting... I wish they would take into consideration not just GPA, but also outside activities so I could strengthen my application. =/ It is what it is, good luck to everyone!

CAMeadors, how is the program? Is it pretty tough?

I don't think there is any one class that makes it tough. The hardest thing to me is there are so many different things required and so many different things to keep up with. They give you an awful lot to juggle on your plate and you have to be flexible. Overall I am loving it and doing well but it makes me crazy sometimes!

No i dont work for UAMS but I know someone who has been a nurse there for 20 years and gives me some of the inside scoop. She told me that she heard the cut off was a 2.9 this year, who knows if that's really true. But she also said it's up to the dean how many more students they want to take during the second round, so they could take 20 more or 50 more. No one really knows. But i do know for a fact that the cut off for first round was a 3.1 hope this helps yall. I applied at UALR just a few days ago so I could have a back up plan. I have a little bit over a 3.00 so im really nervous at this point!

aww well if thats the case, maybe you'll get in! I also applied to UALR as a back up, I already have a BA in Biology...but need job security so I'm going the nursing route and I don't want to still be in school when I'm 30. =/ I would prefer a BSN over an ASN, but I'm not going to delay it any longer! Good luck to you! :)

FYI, I called the office due to my state of anxiousness, and they told me they mailed out letters today, and will keep mailing out in rounds until all spots are taken. The lady did not tell me when they will next mail out more letters though. I didn't want to be too nosy...but be on the lookout! :)
