RN pay in AR-what can I expect to make?

  1. 0 Hello all,
Moving to NE/NC AR in July '06 from SoCal/OC. I know to expect a lower pay than what I make in CA but not sure how much. (I have 10 yrs RN experience, a BSN and mostly have worked ER, ICU and case mgmt)
I dont see very many ads for RN case managers so I am considering positions in ERs or public health.
Any RN salary info would be great-doesn't have to be specific about your pay but maybe what you have heard or know for fact.
Also can anyone explain how the WEO works?
    Thanks fellow future co-workers!

I did get my salary answer by asking one of the hospitals in the area I am relocating to. The pay rate is very acceptable considering AR has a much lesser cost of living compared to CA.

Thanks for posting this. It is too bad no one answered you.

Since you are probably now living in AR, can you tell me what you think? I live in CA and may be relocating to Little Rock.

    Thanks.

I am still in CA, not in Arkansas untill this summer. But it will be a nice change of "everything" from So Cal. The pay rate I got quoted for a hospital 3 hrs north of Little Rock was about what I had expected, not to bad for me. But the key is the lower cost of living. I know that in Little Rock you can probably make more and have more variety of positions as a RN and of employers to choose from. Look at the Arkansas State Board of Nursing website-they have links to their publications and you can find current job ads and other Arkansas nursing issues.

Thanks for your reply as well! C-Ya in the Ozarks!

Thanks, I'll check it out. Went for a visit to Little Rock and it was very relaxing! Hardly any traffic, including at rush hour.

    Good luck!

So sorry no one has replied to this! In my institution, GNs start at 17.25, with a bonus after licensure and 90 days probation. Each yr of experience gets you 3%, there is a clinical ladder with other bonuses, certifications get you more, blah blah blah. Cost of living is low, traffic is easy, summers are hot and winters are mild.

Would love to hear about your transition to AR! I grew up in Fullerton, followed military hubby for 20 years, now looking for a reasonable COL with inexpensive houses! My sister bought a $569,000 50 year-old rancher in Placentia, close to Kramer. Crazy!:spin:

I'll be returning to AR after twelve years in Nebraska to be closer to my aging parents. Anyone familiar with White County? I lived in LR/Benton area for twenty years. I am a WCC. I see One WOCN listed for Cabot. I'm primarily interested in LTC or Home Health unless the hospital has a Wound Clinic.
Looking forward to everything except the humidity and allergies!

amen to the humidity and allergies!! I have lived in AR for most of my life....and most likely will stay here unless the hubbie's job changes. For the most part, it is a great place to live with mild climate and lots of beautiful scenery (mostly forrest). I graduated from UAMS in LR, lived there 2 yrs while in school and loved it. I go back fairly frequently since my 2 sisters also live there. I know for a fact that it can be a huge transition moving to
AR from CA or any other place with big cities. Both of my parents were born and raised in CA and I still have a lot of family there. The people talk different (me included LOL) and the lifestyle is just so much slower paced. Wishing you both the best in your transitions and welcome to Razorback country!!!

Replying to my own post, I am now in AR at a hospital and am making $6.50 an hour more than I made in western NE. Real estate taxes are much cheaper- $100 less for three times as much house!
