Rio Salado online Pathophysiology tests

U.S.A. Arizona

My instructor has not replied to inquiries about study aids for

the mid and final tests for this course.

I'm on a fishing expedition for information because there is so much material

in the text, and the grade received for this online course hinges on these 2

tests.

If any friendly sort happens to read this and has taken the course

any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Nice to see someone else from Tucson come by the boards!

I've got no help for you about Rio, sorry.

But I've read your intro post. Are you still interested in doing some PCT work?

Hi Dave. I read your intro post also. I'm replying here because my answers are AZ specific, and others may have ideas for you.

I'm in Tucson also. I too, am doing anything to NOT move for nursing school. Here's my thoughts.

Have you check out Grand Canyon University's accelerated Tucson BSN program? If not, there's a link here in the AZ forum. The thread is a few down. Also, if you work for TMC or Carondelet - they have nursing programs for their employees. You must work 20 hours per week and commit to working for them for a few years after you become an RN. They have dedicated programs through Pima, Grand Canyon U, and I believe Rio Salado for RN.

Otherwise your Tucson RN choices are UA's traditional or accelerated BSN which you mentioned.

One thing in your favor is that you are male. The BSN programs consider such things and they really want men in nursing. Hang around these boards because there's great info here.

I forgot to add that the VA in Tucson has a program for employees through Rio Salado. It's also worth it to get on the waitlist (get accepted) at Pima. This is because once in a blue moon they don't have enough students for TMC's Pima class, and you can get called up even if you don't work for TMC. It's one of those things that rarely happens, but it still makes sense to be on that list.

Search this forum for lots of Rio info. In a nutshell - there is nothing you can do. The courses are designed so as not to give you little friendly "hints" for the midterm and final for the very reason that they want you to dig deep in the books and learn everything. That was my impression taking all of my nursing pre-reqs online at Rio. In-person classes are now a breeze and a lot less work. That said, I know some seriously lazy/dumb people who managed to get their B or C doing Rio - so it isn't impossible. Just don't expect any help sorting through what will be on the test and what will not.

I feel for you and Pathophysiology but I can tell you the more you learn and retain in this course the easier future courses and clinicals will be.

Our instructor was tough and we complained during the course but thanked him after we used his information to get through other course.

He told us to get: Pathophysiology, REviews and Rationales by Mary Ann Hogan - Karen Hill, Prentice Hall. Also Pathophysiology, Incredibly Easy, by Lippencott-Williams. It concentrates on the 3 main physiological responses, Inflammation, Immune and RAAS. Learn these inside out and upside down. I also lived with my A&P book and CD's. Good LUck.

Thanks to everyone with the thoughtful posts.

I am currently in PCT training at Carondelet

Hello,

I am currently taking Patho at GCC but the class is conflicting with my work schedule and the campus isn't close to my home. For those who have taken Patho through Rio, is it extremely difficult? My class now doesn't seem THAT difficult but I would rather take the online course. Thanks!

Britt
