Relocating to Mesa/Gilbert/Chandler area

Specializes in ICU 3+ years, travel nurse 1+ years.

Hi, I'm considering relocating to the SE Phoenix metro area. I've been doing some research on the hospitals in the area and still have a few questions, maybe you guys could help me. I have 4 years experience in the ICU, two of which is travel nurse experience, and have my BSN. What is the approximate pay scale for non-new grad RNs? I saw on one website it is $33/hr, is that true? Also, do hospitals still have sign-on bonuses or relocation bonuses? Any favorite hospitals to work at? Any info is much appreciated! :)

I would expect you to receive at least $33 with your experience in a high demand specialty, not counting the differential of course. My pay is close to that right now with a BSN and 3 years in infusion, I also work part time at a SNF and make $35.

The IASIS hospitals seems to be having some trouble, especially Mountain Vista (Crismon & Baseline). The Banner hospitals, which are in abundance in the East Valley, have mixed reviews. Don't work there is you plan on wanting s raise or anything. I was at Banner Gateway about 3 months ago and the L&D nurses were very unhappy with their current circumstances but that can be departmental as you know.

Personally I really like Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert. The benefits are fantastic and I find the corporate culture very favorable and employee orientated. Chandler is in the middle of building a new tower that will add about 100 beds, should be completed in about 2.5 years. The new tower will expand the ER, ICU, CVICU, OR, and Tele. I know that Tele has been doing a lot of hiring in anticipation of the growth.

There is a massive Intel plant that is currently being built south of Chandler that is supposed to bring thousands of new jobs (and patients) to the East Valley.

My mom has worked at CRMC since 93 and my aunt since 2002. They both seem happy.
