Maricopa CC and Pima CC Waiting Lists - Bilingual Nursing Program

  1. 0 Hi all,

First of all I'm sooooo glad I found this website. I've been reading like all the time and I've gotten a lot of very useful information.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anybody knew how long the waiting list for both Maricopa Community Colleges and Pima Community College were. I read on Maricopa's website that theirs is 7-8 semesters which is CRAZY :uhoh21:! I haven't heard too much about Pima's except some info on here which is like 2 years old. I just want to know. I wouldn't mind moving to the Tucson area and I live in Mesa right now so ideally I'd like to stay in the Phoenix area.

Also andybody have any information about the Bilingual Nursing Fellowship Program? Are they still offering it? (I assume they are cause they have information sessions coming up) Is there a waiting list? Is it competitive to get in? Like I said, any info would help.

    Thanks, everybody!

Ok right now the Maricopa CC waiting list is about 3 years. The best advice I can give you is apply and get on the waiting list. That'll be your plan B. Now as far as the bilingual program goes I think you have to be on the waiting list to even be considered for the bilingual program and if you get chosen for that. There is know waiting list. I hope that answers your questions.

Thank you! I should be done with my pre reqs by the end of fall '12 semester. I'm going to the information session on Tuesday so I'm hoping to hear good news . While I'm on the waiting list I'm hoping to finish up my co reqs so I can apply for the concurrent ASU program.

I'm also finishing my pre-reqs in December and will be applying to the bilingual program. I am so glad you posted this! I've been checking the Phoenix College website, not the South Mountain one, so I didn't even know about the information session. I looked it after reading this and will be going on Tuesday as well Thanks for posting this!

Yea, I was checking the PC website for a while then I saw there was a bit more of information on the SMCC so I was like YAYYYY! Well I'll see you there then! @Chatotic94 are you looking into going to Phoenix College or South Mountain?

I'm hoping to go to Phoenix College, but either one is fine with me. I'm currently at MCC and when I went to one of their nursing info sessions, I was told that South Mountain is for people that don't have many pre-reqs done and are essentially starting from the very beginning. However, a girl I work with has her bachelor's and she's been on the waiting list for the program at SMCC, she's just waiting for the actual nursing blocks to start to join since she has the rest of the classes done. To me that seems like pretty much the same thing as being on the traditional waiting list so maybe that's why they don't advise to do that. The nursing advisor said that once I'm on the waiting list, then I can apply to the Phoenix College bilingual program since I have too many classes completed to go through SMCC. Hopefully we can get clarification on this tomorrow! See you there

Elle, did you go? What did you think? Unfortunately I sat by some very obnoxious people, but overall I feel it was very informative! I'm not sure I'm going to apply, though. A completion date of May 2016 is ridiculous! It seems like wherever you go fo nursing, it takes way longer than any other degree. I don't want to wait 4 years to not even have my BSN at the end!

So, do you actually have to be already on a MCC waiting list?...if that's t case why post info dates?

    Hi,

I applied at Maricopa community colleges because there is more of an opportunity to get into the nursing program than Pima and I'm here in Tucson. Right now the Pima Community College waiting list is January 2016. My friend received a letter last semester stating that she was in the program and to show up for orientation. Well, she showed up for orientation and it turns out that she was just an alternate so if 23 students did not turn in their paperwork by the due date then she could start the program. Guess what she had to go to orientation again last Friday. and she is still not in any program. So if you think Pima is going to help you get that nursing degree you are better off staying with Maricopa Community Colleges. [

Chaotic94: Yes, I went and I turned in my application the day before it was due. I guess I shouldn't have waited so long but at least I turned it in. Did you end up applying? I'm going to apply for the regular Maricopa nursing program at the end of this semester. I just have to take my HESI test & I'm waiting on my fingerprint clearance card. Then from there, I'm going to try & do my co reqs as soon as I can so I can apply to the ASU CEP program.

Antsy123: No, you do not have to be on the waiting list. You go to the information session, fill out the application that they give you, they contact you mid/end of October to set up an interview around the second week of November. If you are accepted you start the following semester and complete the prereqs and coreqs with them.
