ASU Nursing Program Spring 2011 hopefuls

U.S.A. Arizona

Hi,

I am thinking of applying for Spring 2011. I have just found out that the lowest TEAS score for ASU was about 79% with average of 87%. I am worried. I have a GPA of 4.0. But last time I took the TEAS for Fall (w/o studying!!), I got 75.3%. I still did not start preparation as the kids have summer break and I am busy with them. But, I was wondering if someone has already applied... Can anyone also suggest how they are preparing for the TEAS? Let's post our GPAs and TEAS score to know where we stand... It might also work as encouragement for some of us.:)

Yes, but if all 10 of us find these posts, we can figure it out :) My score is 5.565. what is yours?

I am also in the alternate list. I have 5.574. I hope we all get in the program!:uhoh3:

Congratulations to those of you who got in! For those of you on the alternate list, don't lose hope. I was an alternate, along with many of my classmates, when I applied and quite a few of us got placed. I've been told by faculty in the past few years that many of the alternates do get a spot in the class. even with this in mind, you should still prepare for the next semester as if you didn't, just in case.

For the first semester, I wouldn't worry too much about re-reading your physiology or pathophysiology texts. As Tara said it's a good base of knowledge, but they definitely run through the basics before getting too far into things. They know that a lot of people have different backgrounds.

p.s. the thought of self-directed learning on injections makes me laugh. maybe they'll do SDL for IVs too :p. really, junior I is a great place to get started and the faculty that run it do a great job at teaching and exposing and adjusting you to things.

hey there dreamingbig- looks like you and I have the exact same advancement score :)

I hope that most of us alternates get in!

So far there a total of 10 alternates, and 3 of us have found this posting-

me-5.574

dreamingbig- 5.574

Tgirl- 5.565

Let's hope the other alternates find this and share their advancement scores also!

i got in! how expensive were the scrubs and books? I have a feeling the fees and other things are going to hurt come time to pay.

I got in too! Congrats to all the others who got in!

I google searched the scrub uniform for ASU and found apparelprousa.com, it looks like the company ASU uses for their uniforms and the scrubs really aren't that expensive. like 22 a maroon scrub top and 18 for white/navy pants.

The books are going to be a bank breaker, I think the junior 1 package new is 856 dollars plus whatever other books you have to buy and each course seems to have a $50+ class fee.

I am definitely going to start working more hours and work my butt off over the winter to pay for this, but it'll be worth it!

Does any one have any idea when students from alternate list can expect to hear from ASU? I am eagerly waiting....

The students who got in are expected to reply about if they choose to attend or not by a certain date. I forget how long it is between when you get the letter and the deadline but you'll start hearing from the college a few days after that deadline date all the way up until the first day of classes.

Hey all! Just joined today. My brother is in his first block @ Grand Canyon so I'm excited to start next semester. What can we expect in regards to weekly schedule? I'm married and have 2 baby boys so just trying to get an idea b/c my bro has no lecture on Fridays. Should I just expect to see my young lil family next summer? Lol

When i was in junior 1 my schedule was much like this:

Monday: fundamentals theory lecture 07:30-09:30, skills lecture 09:30-11:30

Tuesday: usually lab from 08:00-15:00; near the end you'll have clinical this day and the times vary

wednesday: pharmacology 09:30-12:40, some professional nursing class from 14:00-17:00

thursday: usually clinical, the times vary. sometimes you'll have lab.

friday: fundamentals theory lecture 07:30-09:30

Awesome. Thanks tttt ;D were you or any of your classmates able to work during the semester? I'm a teller at a bank and school definitely takes precedence over work, just wondering if I can be successful while working and trying to find family time
