Missing the Dark

I just wanted to say hi and that I am missing the November Darkness of Alaska! :yawn: I am in the lower 48 now... I never had to drive into the sunrise after a night shift while I was in AK (at least not in the winter!). Tday, as I drove home and climbed into bed (with the sun lighting up my room) I was dreaming of the sweet darkness that makes sleeping during the day so peaceful.:sleep: (There aren't any Northern lights here either :( )

Hope things go well but, you make it sound like you didn't work there from April till September when there are from 12.8 to 20.9 hours of sunlight daily. Then again, maybe the average daulight and temperature scale that I have for Fairbanks is not in any way indicative of the part of Alaska where you are from.

What I have here lists the temp and daylight as:

April 15.5 hours topping at 41F

May 18.7 hours topping at 59F

June 20.9 hours topping 70F

July 20.7 hours topping 72F

August 16.3 hours topping 66F

September 12.8 hours topping 55F

I hope to be there in a year form now and anticipate working midnights but, seeing as I am already used to driving home with the sun in my eyes and sleeping when the sun is blazing I do not anticipate a problem. Fingers crossed! I haven't been on midnights for a year though as I am only working on my classes now.

Wouldn't leave it for the world. Here in Los Anchorage, we got about 6 inches of snow for Halloween. We're running single digit temperatures at night under a clear sky. A moose chowed down on our apple trees the other night and another one was hanging around the hospital entrance, forcing me to go find another door. Gotta go out and put the studded tires on.
