Hi! I start nursing school in Jan 09 at Wallace State.. Can someone please tell me what type of school and medical supplies will be needed for nursing school? Also can share how do you organize all of your nursing material and some study tips.

I do not attend Wallace State, but I can tell you that as far as supplies for classes I always have a very LARGE binder for each class. At my school we also have to purchase Scantron's for our tests. A day planner is also very helpful to keep all of your test dates and clinicals written down. As far as the medical supplies, at my school we had to purchase a Skills kit. The kit included things like a BP cuff, thermometer, pen light, syringes, gloves, IV supplies, urinary catheter, normal saline, and things like that. It pretty much included everything you will need to do your skills check-offs for the first semester. The only thing not included in our kits was a stethoscope. I don't know how helpful this is because I don't attend your school, but maybe some of this will be the same. Good luck!!

I am at CACC and we also purchased a skills kit like the above message said. I got my stethoscope at a nursing store. I had a big binder for each class and used lots of ink on my printer, so you might want to stock up now. We used pink scantrons. They are different from the kind everyone else uses. For clinicals I used a clipboard that you could open up and store stuff in. It helped so you didn't have to carry all that paperwork around. If I think of anything else I'll let you know....also keep in mind that we are at different schools, so things might be a little different. Good Luck and just remember to take some time for yourself every once in a while because the first semester can be overwhelming, but you can do it!!!!! :)
