ABSN @USA - Just got accepted for Fall 2011

U.S.A. Alabama

I found out today that I was accepted into the ABSN program. I would really like to find out who else out there has heard anything and even from those who are currently in the program. What hidden expenses can I expect? I'm so excited to finally be at this point in my life!

Hey,

I just found out I got accepted for the July program over the phone this week. Do you know when they're sending the package?

She told me it would be near the end of May. I've looked online at the projected schedule and it looks pretty intense. Where are you from?

I'll be coming from Atlanta, Georgia. How about yourself? Have you found a place yet?

I'm from the area, so if you have questions about here just ask:)

YES!

1. Do you need a roommate?

2. Where should I move?

3. Is the area flat enough that I could ride my bike easily?

4. Do you know anyone that wants an awesome roommate?

1. I'm married - so I already have a roommate:)

2. It depends if you want to live near the Fairhope campus where lecture will be or in Mobile where most of the clinicals will be. From what I understand, 1-3 days will be lecture in Fairhope and 2 or 3 days will be at hospitals in Mobile, with the exception of 1 hospital in Fairhope. Over the phone, the director informed me that they would try to accomodate closest locations when they could. With that said, I live in north Mobile county, so it takes me about 45 minutes to get to the Fairhope campus. Mobile is only 15-20 minutes away. Daphne would be a happy medium, although gas across the bay is slightly higher than in Mobile. (.5 cents) West Mobile apartments would put you in alot of traffic, but closer to hospitals for clinicals. You have more options for apartments in Mobile, as well. I used to live ( a long time ago) in Carondolet apartments in Mobile and loved it. It's near the interstate and close to the mall and alot of places to eat. It would be about 45 minutes to Fairhope and 5-10 minutes to hospitals in Mobile. If you go online and find a few options that fit you, let me know and I'll tell you about how far they would be from classes and such:)

3. Yes, I see quite a few bikers in the area of north Mobile and also those that bike all the way to the beach. I do, however, see more bikers across the bay in Daphne and Spanish Fort.

4. Sorry, I don't know anyone who needs a roommate, but I'll keep my ears open!

Hope this helps:)

Thanks a bunch! Should we start a FB group for our class now or wait till we get the package?

I think I'm staying in Daphne. Found a girl on craigslist who's also accepted and now there's a total of three us hopefully sharing a house.

Hello,

I just found out that I was accepted last week! I'm a little nervous that I only have a couple week to prepare, but I'm super excited to get started and met everyone!

I'm on the look out for a place to live and roommates also if anyone has any more good information about finding housing that would be awesome!
