Did getting into nursing school seem like a life altering event?
Life-altering, YES, but only in a great way! Besides, how boring would life be if we didn't have new challenges here and there? I just got accepted into an ABSN program and now I'm mentally preparing for the punches! I just keep reminding myself to keep my eyes on the prize~~~~

How much for Vaccinations??
I just went through the same thing. I did not have access to my vaccines ( I'm 38 ) and inquired at my family doc's office. They took a blood sample from me and sent it to LabCorp to do a titer to prove I had been vaccinated. It was not covered by insurance, so it cost me $330. The results of my titer proved my vaccinations and I sent that paperwork along with my application, which they accepted. I would check with the local health department and ask how much the titer test would be and compare that to your local family doc. I also discovered that at one Dr. office here, it would cost me $50.00 for a TB test shot, but only $10 at the Dr. down the road. My Hep B shot was covered under insurance and Tetorifice cost me $10, as well, as the same Dr.. Just make sure to call a few different Dr. offices, health dept, and campus health facility to ~~compare prices~~ and save a couple of bucks. Good Luck! It's crazy to think how much it cost just to "apply" to nursing school :):

ABSN @USA - Just got accepted for Fall 2011
1. I'm married - so I already have a roommate:) 2. It depends if you want to live near the Fairhope campus where lecture will be or in Mobile where most of the clinicals will be. From what I understand, 1-3 days will be lecture in Fairhope and 2 or 3 days will be at hospitals in Mobile, with the exception of 1 hospital in Fairhope. Over the phone, the director informed me that they would try to accomodate closest locations when they could. With that said, I live in north Mobile county, so it takes me about 45 minutes to get to the Fairhope campus. Mobile is only 15-20 minutes away. Daphne would be a happy medium, although gas across the bay is slightly higher than in Mobile. (.5 cents) West Mobile apartments would put you in alot of traffic, but closer to hospitals for clinicals. You have more options for apartments in Mobile, as well. I used to live ( a long time ago) in Carondolet apartments in Mobile and loved it. It's near the interstate and close to the mall and alot of places to eat. It would be about 45 minutes to Fairhope and 5-10 minutes to hospitals in Mobile. If you go online and find a few options that fit you, let me know and I'll tell you about how far they would be from classes and such:) 3. Yes, I see quite a few bikers in the area of north Mobile and also those that bike all the way to the beach. I do, however, see more bikers across the bay in Daphne and Spanish Fort. 4. Sorry, I don't know anyone who needs a roommate, but I'll keep my ears open! Hope this helps:)

She told me it would be near the end of May. I've looked online at the projected schedule and it looks pretty intense. Where are you from?

ABSN @USA - Just got accepted for Fall 2011
I found out today that I was accepted into the ABSN program. I would really like to find out who else out there has heard anything and even from those who are currently in the program. What hidden expenses can I expect? I'm so excited to finally be at this point in my life!
