In LOVE!!! & Moving to NM! Agency LVN/LPN... Help???

Specialties Agency

Published

Along with being a Certified Hospice & Palliative Licensed Nurse - and in Texas right now - I've been doing agency nursing and contract nursing in various settings, mostly hospitals, in San Antonio, Austin for several years. Background most all depts in hospital - except L/D, Newborn - and agency work in various LTC's.

I'm moving to New Mexico by year's end and would like to get on with another agency in either Albuquerque or Santa Fe. Unsure what location I will actually live in at this very moment.

Any suggestions as to whom I might contact? I will be very new to area and would like something that would keep me close to home while I get my bearings. Do hospitals in NM areas use agency nurses? And specifically LPN's?

IV certified, telemetry experienced. but want to do whatever necessary to remain as independant from the politics as possible.

Any help or ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated!

Specializes in ER.

You might try Rapid Temps, Inc. I have worked for them for a long time and am quite satisfied, however, the agencies that cover New Mexico areas (for Per Diem or contract) are much smaller and quite a bit different as it is less populated than TX. Maxim may or may not have something you are looking for, lately, agency work in NM has been kind of dry and you will find that staffing in NM is very sub-optimal as there are no safe harbor restrictions like Texas, so lower expections may be helpful and be very careful when interviewing, there are some ER's that have a 1:6 ratio (Not non-urgents!), there are med surg units with 1:8 ratios with no ancillary support, carefully evaluate all options. THere are however, alot of great nurses and medical professionals in New Mexico and I have enjoyed working in alot of places there, some places have great ancillary staff and workload balance, safe staffing, etc.
