Hi all,

I pursued my Bsn degree and got my Rn licensure in my country with no experience, now I would like to pursue my career in U.S as I live here. Inorder to continue, I need to complete my cgfns( commission on graduates of foreign nursing schools ) exam and then need to apply for nclex through state board of nursing, if so does any hospital provides work visa once I complete my nclex? Please help! Any suggestion?

Not unless you look for further education and make yourself desirable to employers. Otherwise all you can do is contact hospitals in the areas you want to live and work

Might have to start looking into getting a Master in Nursing degree as I feel like this may be the minimum for foreign educated nurses now

Depends on where you are looking. CA, NY, NJ, PA, IL there are dozens of inexperienced new grads that were US educated and citizens/PR so don't require sponsorship. If you are not a citizen/PR and require sponsorship an employer is going to have a hard time proving you are most qualified over the in country new grads.

A refresher course will definitely not qualify you for an H1B visa and you'd be hard pressed to find an employer willing to go through the time & expense to sponsor you. Very few nurses qualify under H1B specialty visa. Taking a refresher course will not create experience where there was none.

That will be up to the employer and whether they are willing to go either the H1b route or immigrant route. Both costs the employer $$ and if you are lucky to get a employer willing to go the H1b route and they are affected by the cap then you will have to wait until April next year and can't start working until Oct as long as you was successful in getting H1b before the cap is gone and for immigrant visa well a lot will depend on place of birth and category plus length of time it will take

Ok this is not for the h1b sponsorship. I would like to know after I get my work permit, how Can I pursue my career as nurse with no experience and 7 years break after my BSN. Please help!

What incentive does an employer have to put forth the time and expense to sponsor you for an immigrant work visa? Depending on your country of birth the retrogression wait could be more than a decade (those born in India, China and Philippines have a 6-10+ year wait. Which means you would be 13-17 years post graduation without any nursing experience.). There are many inexperienced and new grads in the US seeking employment who do not need sponsorship.

There is not a shortage of nurses in the US. There is a shortage of nursing jobs. (In CA the inexperienced nurse unemployment rate is >40% in some areas). There is a shortage of experienced specialty trained nurses. I'm sorry that this is the current reality. Can you return to your home country to gain nursing experience?
