Singapore to california

World Immigration

Hello. Im about to take my gce olevel exams but I started researching about becoming a registered nurse. There are a couple routes to take but I'm so confused. The route I plan on taking is either foundation uni in australia and the getting a degree in nursing or getting a diploma and then get a degree. After that idk what to do. I thought of maybe working in singapore for about 3 yrs for experience. After the 1 and 1/2 yrs I'd probably start applying for the green card and apply for the nclex exam at the same time. Or should I get a green card and then afterwards do the nclex? Do I need to go nursing school? And once I get a green card and passed the nclex, can I immediately search for jobs to be a registered nurse in California? Oh and for nclex, I need to self teach myself right? O understand you should have learnt it in university, but I don't think I can remeber everything after a year or so. So should I purchase nclex guidebools and practice books too? Please give me advice and help me improve my whole plan!:) Thanks

You can not apply for green card it has to be either employer or family ie marriage to a USC or family member who meets criteria and is already a USC.

Get your nurse training making making sure Paeds, Obstetrics, Adult and Mental Health is covered. Whilst gaining experience apply to the state and only once you have met requirements will you get eligibility to sit NCLEX. Once that is done can you start looking for employer willing to go the immigration route

I plan on getting my green card through the green card lottery though. As for nurse training, what do you mean? After graduating polytechic I am allowed to apply as a registered nurse, but I plan on furthering my studies and getting a degree and then applying to be one. Wait...so being a registered nurse in singapore doesnt allow you to take the nclex for cali?

There are no guarantees with the lottery so you may want to consider also going the employer route.

California is one of the most hardest states to get registered in especially if you trained outside the US. If you graduate as a registered nurse without taking degree then you may meet state requirements but really only they can make that decision. All you can do is once trained as a registered nurse is to submit application to state after following whatever their requirements are

Oh this is such a big risk. Here in singapore registered nurses earn about 33,000 a year and housing is around 500,000 for a small old apartment. If I dont make it im literally dead. I do hope I make it:( say I got a diploma and then got a degree and then worked for awhile. Then I passed the ncsbn requirements and is allowed to take the nclex. I pass the nclex, have a 3 yr experience as an rn and miraculously got a green card. Does it sound impressive enough to the employer?

ncsbn requirements have nothing to do with it, you have to apply to the state and each state may be slightly different. If you have degree and experience in a specialty area it will make you more appealing to employers

Hi, registered nurse in Philippines here and got evaluated by cgfns for the California BON. The waiting sucks. The state is very very very strict with everything. You can't even proceed in getting specialized aread like EMT, etc unless you get your papers evaluated. Unfortunately they only accept highschool transcript which is kind of stupid as you got your college transcript. Unfortunately, you need to undergo certain steps that takes a long time even to get started. I've been living here in los angeles for a year now and my paper is still in evaluation. First is by lvn, no response from them, then to the cgfns, they said my papers were sent to the board..that was 5 days ago so I am awaiting for the board to call..but was planning to call on Monday.
