Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

In order to apply for a nursing license in Californiayou must meet the requirements of the CA BON. Many foreign educated nurses are having difficulty meeting the requirements due to concurrency issues, that is, the clinicals haven't been completed in the same semester as the theory portions for some subjects.

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

The CA BRN are the only ones who can tell you if you will qualify for licensure: I recommend that you contact them to discuss your situation.

I know international applicants--including others from the Philippines--who were able to get licensed with no problem. It all depends on whether the nursing program that you completed overseas meets the CA BRN requirements.

If your program doesn't satisfy CA's requirements and and you wish to practice as a nurse in California, you will need to take additional classes. Endorsing in with licensure from another state won't let you get around it either, as the CA asks for transcripts from ALL applicants.

Best of luck.

Not new rule(s) at all, just very strict enforcement of an old rule set by the CA BON for the past 25 years, I would suggest reading the many already covered topics in the Nurse Registration sections and see what the issues are and what your options are.
