hi! Ive applied for an assessment for RN in NSW. I can say that I know very much on the how to's in applying for bridging course in Australia since I did it on my own. I got the recommendation letter from the board and was advised to undergo a competence assessment program in the college of nursing in Burwood.

to make it short: (If u want to apply in NSW)

1. Take IELTS first, all 7 on all the components

2. Read the instructions on the website--www.nmb.nsw.gov.au

basically here are the most Important things:

a. go to PRC, request for verification of registration to be sent directly to the board

b. go to your university or college, request for transcript and nursing course description to be sent directly to the board

c. go to IDP or British Council, request for a copy of your all 7 each in all components of your report grade to be sent directly to the board

d. fill up the application form-http://www.nmb.nsw.gov.au/please-proceed-RN/default.aspx

(with the application form, you need to have it notarised, and pay $105 through credit card or money order etc)

that's basically the initial requirements to be sent to the nursing board

here is the information booklet that will guide you/checklist in filing your application:

http://www.nmb.nsw.gov.au/Info-Booklet/default.aspx

Assessment is a case to case basis but basically Overseas nurses are recommended to undergo the bridging course.

You will receive a recommendation letter from the nursing board stating the Nursing school that provides the bridging course or the school that you have to go to to get your registration training

Example of the recommendation letter:

If you get such letter,

* original letter of referral from the Nurses and Midwives Board of New South Wales

* a certified copy of your English language test result (Internationally educated nurses/midwives)

* a certified copy of your visa*(Internationally educated nurses/midwives)

* Applicants who will be applying for a short stay visa in order to undertake the program may be issued with a letter from the College that can be used to support their application for a visa when all other entry requirements have been met.

Note: Applications that are incomplete are unable to be processed.

3. Successful applicants will be notified by mail.

Applicants are advised not to finalise any personal arrangements until confirmation of a place in the program is received from The College of Nursing.

4. Confirmed applicants are required to attend the program enrolment session where all original documentation is to be presented for verification and proof of identity established. Applicants will be excluded from the program if the original documentation and eligibility cannot be verified. Outstanding fees are to be finalised at this time.

regarding your visa, you can get the student visa or visa 456 or if u have relatives, you can ask them to sponsor you (family sponsored)

regarding your schedule, the school will be the one to give you the date so u can apply the appropriate date of your travel.

If you have questions, feel free to ask :coollook:

Meaning, she studied IT for 2 yrs here in aus and not nursing/preregistration. Did she apply for pr herself or was employer nominated? If you're employer nominated points required will be lower.

About your friend, of course he'll be denied a student visa. Coz certificate programs are not cricos registered. And even if he grauated, no employer will sponsor him because certificate programs can be done by locals. Internationals under certificate programs are not needed by aus so they will never be granted a working visa or much more a pr.

thank you very much for the enlightenment..I did try to convince him but he just couldn't be swayed because of his sister.I told him that his sister's case is different from his, so he can't tell if he'll experience the same thing. as far as I know, the jobs for nurses in oz is still on the rise.

My family and I just decided I'd go for it this week... luckily i already took the IELTs. So next week will try my best to complete my documents, hopefully I can send my application 2 weeks from now or less :)

how was your IELTS? please do share to us the details on your application..I asked my co-trainee if she's interested and she said she'd go for it as well.hopefully, we pass either the ielts or the oet.

My scores were okay :), I managed to get 7 above in all 4 components. As for application, I am just following the requirements stated in the Information Booklet for NSW -- http://www.nmb.nsw.gov.au/Info-Booklet/default.aspx and the thread starter's guide in the first page. Hope I can get it all right. Don't worry, I will surely follow this thread and share you all my step by step experiences :)

Wow your friend was sure brainwashed. I feel so sorry for him. He's wasting a very good opportunity. IT has absolutely no chance of being a pr here. And he's not an IT. What does his sister know about being a nurse here anyway or the nursing situation of aus? Gud luck to his UK application then. I bet he has a very slim chance of being a pr there if not none at all.

At least you have plans of going here. Get 7 all in ielts and apply in NBV. It's better there compared with others states coz there's plenty of options.

Hi guys, can anyone share me a sample format of the "Verification of Registration and Certification of good professional standing"? PRC is asking me to provide them with the form. There is also no form downloadable in the NMBNSW site. Thanks:)

any latest news regarding your application? :)

none still as of the moment. but i received a preliminary assessment from them sometime last month. sorry if i haven't posted it here. well it simply just said that as of that time they were not satisfied with my bsn here in the philippines because tertiary education there is very much different from ours. they said that i could withdraw my application for rn and opt for enrollment as a nurse instead but that i still have to undergo the bp for ens. i replied that i still would like to go through with my application as an rn. i even asked what more documents could i submit just to strengthen my application status for registration but they said that they have everything they need from me. so they advised me to just wait for their formal and final assessment. but i'm not holding my breath for it. i have a feeling i won't be assessed as an rn anyway... if that would be the case then i won't go for the bp for ens as it would just be a waste of time and money :uhoh3:

good luck to you and to others out there on your applications! :nurse:
