Hi, everyone. I've been a lurker for almost a year now and my utmost gratitude to all who have shared their thoughts and experiences from preparation to submission of AHPRA, NMBA-approved school and visa requirements. You are all, undeniably, heroes to the thousands of nurses who have, one way or another, benefited by your shares. I got a grant of visa 5 days ago; just hours after I had an RTA. God is really awesome as He still let me live with only minor injuries. Another miracle, indeed.

Now, I am just so worried of the next steps to take after BP. May I have your insights on the following, please:

1.Is it true that most of the hospitals/employers are hiring those who are on PR visa or have started their application already? Is finding an employer as sponsor not as easy as before? I have only over a decade of international experience in ED but still I'm worried as I might be stuck in Philippines. No more work to go back post BP since I recently resigned as longer than 1 month even unpaid leave is not allowed in my current hospital.

2.I will have my BP on January till March 2018 with ACN. I understand that the pathway that most nurses have taken is to be registered first with NMBA thru AHPRA then apply with ANMAC under Modified Skills Assessment and wait for the issuance of LOD. However, after reading more about post BP steps, I am somehow inclined to apply now the Full Skills Assessment with ANMAC while having BP and waiting for my registration with AHPRA (hoping I will pass both the theoretical and practical exams). Has anyone here able to take this course or knew someone who did? I know some drawbacks of the latter such as the higher cost it entails and the additional stress of submitting documents while am undergoing BP.

3.Is applying for skills assessment with ANMAC pre-BP detrimental or has downside effect to the issued Tourist Visa that the DIBP has recently issued?

4.I am thinking of submitting EOIs for SC 189 and after receiving LOD from ANMAC for subclass 190. Which subclass usually is faster to be issued for nurses? Will there be an expiry period of the LOD?

5.As to point scoring, is it still 15 points even if I finished 2 bachelor's degree? I am short of 5 points if I will not wait for AHPRA registration for subclass 189.

6.My IELTS is due to expire on July of next year, is it advisable to take another English exam now than later - post BP?

7.Is it really imperative to produce copies of the pay slips as proof of paid employments for visa purposes (either SC 189/190)? I cannot seem to get copies of it for my previous employers.

8.Do I need to provide a cover letter also when applying for ANMAC skills assessment?

The foregoing queries may have been answered somewhere before and my apologies for raising all these again. I am just begging anyone of you who could shed some light in my current dilemma. Many thanks ahead.

HI Everyone! I would like to ask for an advice. I will be taking up my bridging at Melbourne by January 2018. How long is the validity of the health insurance that I should purchase? would a 3 month coverage would be enough or should I buy for 1 year, since my visa will be valid for 12 months multiple exit entry? Also what company would be best? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am Gihyeon. I'm going to take up IRON course in Jan 2018 at ETEA Melbourne. I'm waiting for my visa get granted. Could you keep in touch with me?

Cheers.

Hello Blessedly Awsome,

Finished bridging Apr2017, Received Ahpra June 2017, Anmac Oct 2017, still awaiting state Nomination for NSW.

I hope this helps in answering most of your questions:

1.) Yes, thats my current situation right now, I am in a student visa taking up another course whilst working as an agency nurse. Most of my interviewees prefer to sponsor mostly on perioperative field or those who have extensive experience like 8+ years which i dont have. I have 3yrs Critical Care and emergency.

2.)BP@ETEA dont know much about ACN...í ½í¸”

3.)No it wont affect in any way, just so you know its better to have australian postal address with Anmac bcos it might get lost in the mail if international.

4.)189 is faster (from friends) then anmac LOD is only valid for 2yrs.

5.)yes same 15points, i have 2bachelors and also short of 5 points, hence, state nomination, it adds 5points, im not really willing to up my score in ielts too much already... or even NAAti.

6.)the cover letter will be provided online when you apply, fill out, print it in colored, everything with anmac is in colored and JP'd, you also need referral letters from your previous employers. There are guidelines with amac on how to make the referral letter, if you need more answers ill try to answer the best i can. Email me @ [email protected]

Cheers!

Goodluck!

Hi, orchyd

My gratitude for the foregoing info. Truly I am enlightened. I will be updating you and the rest about my course of action. In the meantime, I am currently preparing for my upcoming EPIQ program in ACN next week.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts. c",)

No worries, anytime...

There you go. I'm not sure with using NEC but hey, he's a migration agent. And yes, it will be all written in the LOD.

Bachelor degree is 15 points. and 5 for the BP.

This is the first time that I have heard about this. Is this really true? I am wondering because in the EOI, even if it was stated there that I also have undergone the BP, it just got 15 points for education. I am interested to know because if that is the case, then I can go for 189 with a total of 60 points.

Thank you in advance for any reply. I can see you have been most helpful here.... kudos!

I stand corrected on this one. 5 points is only acquired if the education is taken within a minimum of 2 years of study, full time.

Oh and by the way, 60-65 points as of this time isn't enough to be invited after an EOI. From Jan of 2018 and based from the trend, only 75 pointers and above are being invited probably due to backlogs.

189 is priority 4 and 190 is priority 3 meaning as of this time, 190 is being processed faster.

Oh no.. :( I was planning to proceed with PR application through 189 after bridging mid this year :( I guess I have to change plan then since I only have 60 points and hope someone will notice my experience and offer sponsorship for 457/TSS Visa.. Then probably after 1-2 years apply PR through 190 (but needed to take OET again huhuhu).. By the way, if I'm correct, 190 is through state sponsorship. Do you have any idea how to get one?

Hello friends,

They're waiting for the changes to the 457 this coming March.

ANMAC assessment took 7 weeks for me but the delay was due to the Christmas holiday. I filed Nov 17, 2017 and got the LOD Jan 9, 2018.

But according to ANMAC's website "We have introduced an online application system which will reduce fees and waiting times for all migration skills assessments".

Before it is usually the COGS that's causing the delay because of the requirement that it be mailed directly by the registering agency, now they prefer that it be emailed but using the agency's email address.

It would not be too much to expect that assessment can be done in 2 weeks or less nowadays unless there are other circumstances

Congratulations to dy3p on his PR visa grant!

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of submitting my EOI and I just wanted to confirm regarding work experience. Do I have to declare on the employment details section my previous work experience even if I do not want to claim any points for it? Thanks in advance.
