AG-ACNP study

Hi Everyone!

I'll be taking the Adult Gero Acute Care NP (AG-ACNP) exam in the next few months.

Any study material suggestions?

Anyone interested in studying together, or motivating each other, as we study for this big test?

Would like to hear from you :)

I am studying for the FNP exam (graduate and hope to take it in December). I have looked on here for hours and there are a few resources people seem to agree on:

-Hollier

-Fitzgerald

-Leik

I borrowed the Fitz CD's from someone and they were helpful but I bought Holliers CD's and I really enjoy her way of teaching!! I FINALLY get my murmur questions right!!!! I'm also using Leik and really like that her stuff is to the point (plus she has over 600 questions in the back of the FNP Intensive Review book). In fact I have her book open right now (taking a mental break).

I also bought a package of tests from familynpexams (or whatever that site is....it pops up on my browser) and I think they are a bit helpful but some of the questions are repetitive or don't make much sense.

Good luck to all of us taking the exam soon!!

Oh and I also have the ANCC review book (bought it before realizing I was going to go AANP) and it is pretty helpful (seems to be anyway) too. I have tried to use these resources during my last semester to study a I went and each book seems to miss a little that the others make up for.

I also have the Brown-Dunphy questions book. I got the third edition to save some money and not sure how I like it. The questions are divided by body system so it gets kind of old going through 100+ questions about CV or resp. Also some of the questions are based on outdated info (considering I got an older edition I know that's my fault) and some seem just....hard. BUT even these questions do help me learn because I get to read the rationales. I figure if I do enough questions some of them have to overlap a little with the real exam right??!!

Thank you so much for the suggestions, Anh!

How is your studying coming along?

I feel like no matter how much I study I won't feel confident!! I have to refrain from spending more money on QBank from APEA, predictor tests, etc. If the thousands of questions I'll have done along with the studying I do doesn't let me pass then something is wrong!

And I keep trying to remember that about 86% of people pass the AANP anyway!!

Will you do ANCC or AANP??

Oh and I justified the $420 on Hollier CD's thinking I can always resale them for most of my money back!! Plus I can listen to them as much as I want vs. a live review!

Just some of my thinking on justifying the cost!

Makes a lot of sense :)

Are you mainly listening to Hollier & using her practice Q book?

I just have the CD's and syllabus (or study guide whichever you call it) that came with the set. Not sure I want to spend another $80 for the QBank or another $40 (or however much it is) for the question book of hers. I have plenty of questions to do already! I think I have read her questions are pretty good though. I'm just not going to spend any more money.

And I just realized you're taking acute care!! Too many letters in that title lol.

Not sure how many of those will pertain to acute care!!
