I'm a second year nursing student and recently completed my med/surg clinical placement. During the six week period I had the opportunity to watch a total hip arthroplasty and follow the patient to the recovery room. I really enjoyed the hour I was in the recovery room and feel that this is an area I would like to work in following graduation.
I just want to ask any of the nurses that work/worked in the recovery room what qualities they found in themselves or co-workers that best suited them to the recovery room. What was it about the recovery room that made you enjoy (or hate) working there. Because I only spent an hour in the recovery room I didn't have much time to speak to the nurses working there.
Also, what nursing model(s) are used in the recovery room?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
