Young, energetic nurses/students in LA County

DO YOU GUYS THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA? AND WHO IS INTERESTED TO JOIN?

Hip and cool nurses of Los Angeles County who wants to reach out to the community---fulfilling greatness through service.

Let's. Get. Real. Our chosen profession is one of the hardest in the world. Who gets mentally, physically, psychologically, spiritually, and emotionally exhausted at work/nursing school or clinicals? (C'mon raise your hand, even though you're tired! hah!) *SIGH* Spending long hours in the hospital, delaying restroom trips, missing breaks just to get everything done, working holidays, shifts/care plans that totally screw up your sleep pattern, getting in contact with bodily fluids every 10 minutes... the list just goes on and on... yet, we still do it. WHY?!?

It's not the compensation that gets us going (though, it's a nice bonus!), or the fashionable scrubs and shoes... but, the genuine desire to help others. I believe that being a nurse requires a special heart. It is a battlefield out there and one must have the heart to do it---you're not going to survive without it. We had this continued longing to do "more" despite working 8-hour shifts/5x a day in a VERY busy hospital in LA. We decided we wanted to make an impact to the community but have fun doing it. Thus, the Young Nurses of Los Angeles was born.

Our group has two basic principles: 1) Collect one (1) basic item that will be donated to a selected LA County based charity/organization AND 2) have fun in the process. Meetings will be in forms of dinners, night outs, day in the park, sporting events like bowling, theater, etc. Your ticket to these events are your donated items! Bring a friend or two, anyone who has something to donate can join the party. We want this to be as painless as possible for everyone and we want everyone to have a good time! It is also the perfect time to celebrate surviving last week's workload, A+ pharmacology tests, or simply blowing off your hard-earned nursing money, ha!

Let's try to make LA County a better community one donation at a time. We hope to hear from you soon! Anyone interested to join please send me a PM, I'll send you a link to our OFFICIAL page (it's still under construction)!
