Is there such a thing? Please let me know...

I'd be very surprised if there were. I don't see how you could fit all the clinical skills in.

I don't think so. There are four clinicals in most ADN programs = 4 semesters = at least 2 yrs. That is not counting the pre-recs that the program may require.

Hi,

I see this post is kind of old but there is an accelerated ADN program in Yonkers, NY. The Cochran School of Nursing. It is affiliated with St. John's Riverside hospital. I got accepted into the program to start in the August 05. That is my last resort school because I am waiting to hear back from 4 BSN programs, but if I don't get into the BSN program, I will go to Cochran. The woman who interviewed me said that the 1 yr accelerated used to be open to only LPN's but there are not alot of LPN's applying to that program so they opened it up to the regular students. She told me that in August I will do the first nursing course and then the spring will be Med/Surg I if you have a 3.0 or better you apply for the accelerated part which is in the summer of 06 and you take two classes in the summer time from May-July ( I think! I am doing this off the top of my head) and then you take the last two classes in Fall 06 and finish in December and take the NCLEX. She then told me that they are affiliated with Mercy college and Adelphi University so when you get your ADN you can transfer to these schools and Mercy it is only 8 more classes. So all together, you are doing the two years that it takes you to do the ADN for the BSN. It works for me if I can't get into the BSN program. They are still accepting applications for the Fall. You have to take the NET test and if you pass that exam, you get an interview on the spot. It is one day of theory and two days of clinicals at the hospital.

Look into it if you can. There is public transportation that goes there as well, but it takes 15 min by car.

Good Luck!

ADN programs are pretty compact. A lot to learn in only two years. I couldn't even imagine doing it in one year. I wish you luck but to be honest I couldn't imagine doing it all in one year myself.

All of the programs that I have applied for are accelerated. The one ADN program and 4 BSN. I have no time to waste. If you put your mind to it you can do it. I am 30 years old and have two kids and a husband. It is not an option for me to do it the regular way. I have always done accelerated programs and I guess I can handle it. It was not nursing but I have done accelerated EMT in 8 weeks while taking A & P I in the summer at the same time. Got a B+ in my overall grades for EMT and A & P I in the summer B. I am certified EMT, but now it is hard to find a job. I guess the job market is still bad. Makes me wonder am I going to get a job when I finish nursing school. I have done all of my hard science courses plus statistics in the summer. I have gotten good grades in those classes too. I just like doing the fast track programs. My husband is being pretty nice about the whole going back to school bit, but we can't live off of one income forever!!! :)
