Writing new policies and procedures

Hi All Have been asked to write up some new policies and procedures for my agency. I work in a psychiatric crisis center that has an 8 bed crisis stablization unit. Some of our patients use Cpap machines and/or oxygen concentrartors and bring them to our facility from home. We have never had any policies on their use or cleaning /maintaining them. Just wondering if any of you have found any useful websites for writing medical equipment type policies and procedures. Thanks in advanceLouisernc

Our first policy related to equipment that's brought in from outside our facility is that our Biomed dept has to check it over and give the ok for use in the hospital.

Do you have any other type of biomed equipment with policies? You can use those and adapt for what you need. Do you have an umbrella organization that has a full set of policies? You can see what they have regarding that equipment and adapt it for your facility.

talking to local hospitals for their policies might be a good place to start. they'll be very willing to share.
