Wound Vacs and Sutures

Published

I have a patient that has a wound on her foot due to a toe amputation. This is a rather large wound which now has great granulation. We have orders to now start her Wound Vac and I am going to start that on Saturday. My question is. She has 3 sutures on each end of the wound,. then ofcourse the middle of the wound that is open. I have never used a wound vac with a person that has sutures involved. Is there anything I need to be aware of. Will the tape stick to the sutures and pull them out? Also would you us the bridge technique? The amputation was of her pinky toe.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
