I am currently in Medgar Evers College as a Biology major. My plan is to transfer to SUNY DOWNSTATE so that I can enter their BSN program. But I have a few C’s in my pre-req’s. Will that hinder my chances of getting into the program? Should I even waste my time applying? Did anyone have this problem and made it into the school still?

Hi. I applied to downstate this last application cycle. I had 1 C in a prereq. I was still invited to interview and was ultimately waitlisted. Can't really hurt to try! Good luck!

@MingNYC.x, I am also at medgar evers college and currently doing my associates under ASAP and maybe doing the bachelor extension program for that very reason. I got like three C's and wanted to retake but financial aid won't pay for classes that you pass already. I also want to go to SUNY Downstate as well. I came here so that I can get more info on that. @MingNYC.x, believe me, I am kinda feeling the same way as you too(so you are not alone). At the same time though, I went to their website and under the admission requirements, they put "C or better" under the required prerequisites. Still, I am just as curious as you.
@blessedbutstressed, also I am wondering, if per say you failed a class and you keep retake it and you pass it, would they look at that or just the current grades you got?

Update: I know this is 2021 now. I took the NLN exam and passed with 124. Afterwards, I got accepted into the RN nursing program at Medgar Evers. I am planning to transfer to SUNY Downstate after I am done.
