the board of nursing and greensboro ahec will be offering a conference titled "addressing substance abuse/dependency among nurses" from 8:30am to 12:30pm on thursday september 28, 2006.

this program explores the issue of chemical abuse/dependency for nurses. the "real" life reality for nurses is that they are often faced with these types of issues within their personal life which then invades their professional responsibilities in the world of nursing... this program carries a powerful message that begins in the depth of addiction, then transforms into a successful member of the healthcare team. learning objectives: describe the cycle of addiction. identify signs of possible chemical abuse/dependency in nurses. describe professional reporting responsibilites and potential outcomes. recognize issues related to re-entry into practice. identify best practices related to reducing the potential for diversion.

plan to come and interact with various experts related to this issue. for more information, please see: http://library.ncahec.net/cecalendar/cecourse.cfm?id=43220
