workmans comp injury

four years ago i fell at work and after being seen by workman's comp md i was returned to work on light duty.i have worked for the last four years with these limitations and have always done my job (never once was i ever told there was a problem with my nursing care)last week i was notified to attend a meeting to "consider my termination" due to "my continuing inability to perform my duties" .two hours after the meeting a letter from the city health dept(my employer)was stuck in my door stating that i was being "medically terminated".i am still in a state of shock over this. i am 59 and suddenly i have no income, no insurance and not many job prospects. i have been very active in our union and have met with city officials many times to advocate for our nurses.i can't help but think that there is politics and egos involved in this.
