I need some advice, I've been going back and forth on what to do, but I'm not sure what would be the best thing to do.
I'm a foreign educated nurse who got her ATT letter last summer (which means I have to take the NCLEX within the next 2 months). I've been studying on and off, but with a deployed husband (now back), student, 3 kids and a move I didn't have much time to concentrate on things.
We moved to San Diego a couple weeks ago and I'm thinking to work until I pass the NCLEX. I'm also an EMT-B, so a tech position in an ER for example would be an option. Or any other tech positions that are open to nursing students.
Would you do it? I mean, I finally would gain some hand on experience (I'm out of nursing since almost 7 years now, except for the couple ER shifts I had as an EMT student). Some things might be even easier to understand while studying for the NCLEX, due to having nurses and doctors to ask and seeing it in patients. I'm just scared that I won't have much time to study and that childcare would get too expensive. My 2 oldests are in school, so I only would need before and after school care, my 4 year old would need FT daycare. Any advice?
