Hi Nashima, I'm sorry I can't help you with any job information. Although a preference such as the one you describe would surprise me -- I wouldn't let that put you off from applying to the areas you are interested in moving to in Southern CO.
Concerning the additional education, I would definitely check out the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center bridge program. If memory serves, they excel at doing distance learning, so it wouldn't be much of a problem to pursue it remotely. Whether there is a waitlist, though, I don't know. The only waitlists I've heard repeatedly are getting in the first time!
You may want to put the brakes on after moving here, enjoy the new setting for a year or so, and apply then since you would be a resident.
Just something to think about...
Hi! I am thinking you shouldn't have too much trouble getting a job as an ASN in southern CO. I know it is more of an issue if you live in Denver or one of the big cities, but not so much where I live. In the town that I work in, even the charge nurse is an ASN because there are not enough BSNs who want to work/live out here. I know that both the hospitals in LaJunta and Lamar hire ASNs. I would suggest applying for any jobs you are interested in, many 'prefer' a BSN, but will hire an ASN who demonstrates competency. Best of luck! :)

I'll be relocating to Colorado in the next year with a ASN degree. I've been doing some job research and noticed that most positions require or prefer a BSN degree.
Since I will only have my ASN, will I have any trouble finding a job? I am looking at the Southern Colorado area, but willing to move elsewhere if need be.
In addition, I would like to pursue my BSN as soon as I move. What are the programs/waitlists like?
Thanks for your help!
