When I took the TEAS I scored a mediocore 65% on the Science section. What I saw on my version of the TEAS was mainly about biology such as: cell diffusion, parts of a cell, DNA synthesis, acids and bases and some random chemistry involving balancing eqautions and reading a periodic table. For a little annoyance they threw in some Biological classification and basic physics energy questions. Also don't forget some basic allele and Punnet square questions involving inheritance.
I recommend the following books: AP Biology by Princeton Review; Cliffs noted Chemisty Problem solver; and random youtube videos invovling High school level biology. For the chemistry the AP books are good but go behind the scope of Chemistry. Try some basic Cliffs notes Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. You will probably have to know about the various basic configuration for Hydrocardons and nomenclature associated with basic Organic Chemistry. Let me know how it works out for you.
The section I am having the most difficulty on is the Reading Comprehension such as reading the Maps and determining direction.
You can not really study for Science. It's either you know it or you don't. It is like someone asking for help on grammar. If they do not know the rules of punctuation, grammar or how to spell, then they are screwed. Math is a given, where it is just one answer to different ways to solve a problem. Whereas, science and english are subjects you learn over a period of time. The concept of math can be learned in a short period, where english and science are subjects that are harder to grasp and may take longer to understand. I do not know if I am making any sense.
P.S. -Many people on allnurses have recommended the McGraw Hill for Nursing and have found it really helpful. The only thing you can hope for is your science pre-reqs has some what prepared you. Just give it your all.
