Hi I just passed my NCLEX and I want to apply to Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, Long Island New York. For those of you who are currently working at Winthrop, can you tell me what the interview was like. Also do they place you anywhere in the hospital or do they give you a list of choices? I really want to know this because I really want a med-surg floor. Or did you end up on a floor you completely dreaded just to get your foot in the door?

It is really hard to get a job at Winthrop either with or without experience. My advice to you is to also apply to the long island Hosptials nearby to increase your chance of hire.
Really? I did two med surg clinical rotations and my preceptorship (236 hrs) at winthrop. I thought that would give me a heads up but I guess not. My preceptor wrote me a letter of reference. I have applied to all long island hospitals that have open positions that don't require experience but no one has contacted me yet.
