Hey guys this question is for ACNPs, and FNP/AGPCNP...
I will be taking my AGPCNP boards this week but i started looking for jobs about a month or so ago. I would like to work in an outpatient cardiology clinic. I have 3 years of ICU cardiovascular stepdown experience but chose to do the primary care route to avoid working inpatient the rest of my life.
As i am applying for the "outpatient only"cardiology clinics, i am noticing that the clinics only want ACNPs for the position. I was wondering why? I could take a crappy guess but i think id like the input from ACNPs as to why they are more qualified for the clinic only jobs. We learned 12 leads and basic management of complex diseases so im not sure why i would automatically be excluded from the position.
Also, if anyone knows how i could reword my resume to get the recruiters to consider my acute inpatient experience before turning me down for being primary care, that would be great too. :-)
Thanks!

I don't really know the answer to your question. I think that's a question that should be answered by the employers posting those job openings. I know that as an ACNP student, Cardiology is a popular rotation with my peers and many of us got ample time rotating in both the in-patient and out-patient side of Adult Cardiology. I could venture a guess that these practices are more familiar with the structure of ACNP programs and have experience having ACNP students and grads in the practice.

I agree that this is a question best posed to the employers who are requesting it. My thought about it is maybe there will be some inpatient rotation/hours required with the job and a lot of hospitals are now requiring ACNP cert to work anywhere in the hospital.
