I think you are missing my point. How long have you been working in L&D? You shouldn't be considered a "new grad" any longer. You graduated in December 2009 and have been working as an RN (I assume). Depending on the facility, a "new grad" is within 6 months after graduation and/or no nursing experience (i.e. a fresh body with no experience). Stop considering yourself a new grad, you're working and gaining experience, so use that to your advantage when looking at positions.
If the facilities are not considering you because you don't have OR experience or less than X amount of years of RN experience, then I would suggest sticking with L&D for at least a year or two to meet the X number of years experience to apply. In the meantime, be consistent with checking all the area hospitals for openings that don't require OR or X amount of years experience. There are listings, I found a few just with a quick look. Apply to everything, even if it states "experience preferred"...apply, apply, apply.

I am a new grad (December 2009). I am currently working in L&D. I have discovered an interest in OR nursing but I am having the hardest time finding a hospital willing to hire a new grad. Does anyone out there have any information about any hospitals that may be willing to hire new grads in the OR?
