WHNP degree after obtaining DNP?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask your advice on going to the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-MSN) school after obtaining a DNP degree. My ultimate goal is being a WHNP-DNP. I have always wanted to become a Women's Health Nurse Practioner and learn more about Women's Health since I was in high school.

To explain my current situation, I am working full-time and enrolled in Full-time MSN Nurse Administration program. I get 75% tuition reimbursement from my current employer, which is very helpful for my financial status. Also, the MSN Nurse administration program is one of the BSN-DNP bridge programs so most of the credits will be transferred to the DNP program. My husband is in nursing school for his ADN degree and will finish his program in Spring 2021. I will be done with my MSN Nurse administration program in Fall 2020. This is one of the reasons why I could not go to the WHNP school right away; I am the only one who affords us. I won't get 75% tuition reimbursement with the WHNP school.

I really do want to obtain a doctorate degree and want to work as a WHNP. But in my situation, I am not sure if I have to go to WHNP school first and then DNP school after I am done with my MSN nurse administration program? or should I finish the DNP program with 75% tuition reimbursement from my current employer and then go to WHNP school after saving up money.

Thank you for reading!
