Does anyone work for Whitfield in Jackson? I thought about doing psyche nursing after graduating, but wasn't sure about the environment. How is the pay and benefits at Whitfield and how is the working environment? Please be honest about the working environment. Some of the floors at East MS state hospital are rather scary. I was just wondering how Whitfield was on various units, and what area NOT to work in!
The pay and benefits are good. As far as I know it is safe, however it may not be for everyone!
I've been wondering if working conditions in psych are any better than acute med/surg.
My experience as an RN in acute in MS, TX and CO hasn't been that positive. But then that's a common story...too much responsibility and not enough help.
Now I'm at the point of concidering fleeing to clinic job or possibly state mental health facility (as an RN...not as a pt. lol)
.....I'm kinda leaning toward the idea of going back to school for a different degree to make me more marketable outside of nursing. Oh well.
Best of luck OP. You'll find something you like if you pursue all good ideas.
