Which path (to an RN degree) should I take?

Published

I'm taking prenursing classes at CC right now, and I was originally planning on getting my ASN at their program. I decided that if I wasn't immediately accepted, I should work towards my Associates in Prenursing (not sure if that's the correct name) so I could transfer to a university to get my BSN.

Which makes me wonder, should I even apply to the CC's nursing program? I would eventually get BSN, and the second route would take less time (if everything worked out, I'm also worried that the BSN program won't admit me right away...)

I understand if my question doesn't make sense... I appreciate any advice/suggestions you guys have.

*woops, title should be "a RN degree". Bad grammar here.

If you like to go straight, without taking any breaks, then go straight for the BSN program. However, if you would like to work for a while and hopefully get your employer to pay for that BSN, then chose that option. Personally, if i could turn back the hands of time, I would have gone straight into a BSN program.

At this current trend, I would apply to both ADN and BSN programs!! Apply everywhere. Once you are given some offers, then decide. If you get accepted to a BSN and an ADN program, of course take the BSN. (Unless the program is like $10,000 a semester or something crazy) By the way, I did what you did and got my Associates of Science degree from my local CC (since I planned on getting my BSN eventually.) Its helped a lot because now I can just focus on my nursing courses.
