I just finished the Fitzgerald review course this past week. It was well worth every penny!! I do not finish my FNP program until July and I honest believe this program will help me pull everything together!! I am a high test anxiety person and I also believe this program has eased some of my anxiety about taking the test.
At the session there was alot of discussion about WHICH certification exam to take. I thought I had my mind made up but after talking with some other participants I, again, am not sure. Dr. Fitzgerald did address some of the differences ie; one addresses more ethical, legal scope of practice etc versus clinical application. As far as reimbursement they are both equal. Amoung student the concern was the ANCC had been around longer than AANP; thus individuals choosing AANP may have to 'defend' their certification.
I would appreciate discussion from ALREADY CERTIFIED individuals regarding thier choices and why! THANKS

I did ANCC. I took note that there were a lot of jobs in my area specifically asking for that certification (magnet facilities, since ANCC gives them their designation). Plus, I missed the window for the AANP exam when I graduated. Dumb that they have those windows.

I also did ANCC. Faculty at my school recommended it as it has been around longer. They also said that the renewal process is easier.
