Where should I find RN related volunteer opportunity?

Hello,

My thing is I am a foreign nurse and I will be enrolled into a family nurse practitioner program. I can't work due to my visa status. The NP who interviewed me suggested me to do some volunteer work. I have R. N. license, and I really want to do something that would help me to keep contact with patients and also my future job as a NP. Where should I start to look for this kind of volunteer opportunities?

I volunteer at my county public health office - have done 2 flu shot clinics, am set to do 2 more in the next few weeks. Is that an option? Because of the national status of H1N1 they're insurance covers me (due to fed emergency), so I didn't even need that. Good luck!
