Hi everyone,

I have recently received offers of admission for direct-entry MSN (PMHNP) from Vanderbilt and Yale! I am having trouble making a decision. I am waiting for scholarship information from Yale, and if it is significant that will make my decision.

Vanderbilt:

2 year program, cost of living is lower, currently lower overall cost of attendance w/o scholarship info from Yale, encouraged not to work as an RN during the program

Yale:

3 year program, higher cost of living, higher cost of attendance currently, can work as an RN during the program

Both are well-respected programs with great clinical placement opportunities. I can't make a decision and would love to hear opinions from others who have attended these programs or are working in the field.

Hi, have you decided? I'm currently in the same boat and am trying to make my decision between Vanderbilt and Yale

I'm going to Vanderbilt! It's a better ranked program and it's 2 years instead of 3 which appealed to me.

Congratulations!! So I got into Yale's WHNP program and Vanderbilt's FNP/CNM dual program. Yale used to offer a dual WHNP/CNM but they no longer do. They're both 3 years for me and because of that, Yale ends up being cheaper than Vanderbilt but I do like how I'll end up with both certificates with Vanderbilt. And Vanderbilt is ranked higher but Yale is still a good program from what I can tell. So I am really torn.
