When do boards start for each year?

For the Army or Navy nurse candidate program when does the boards start? I hope to get accepted for the 2016 year. I was told the boards for 2016 would start in October 2015(for Navy). Is this true? How long after being accepted would I recieve my money for school? I'm very excited to hopefully join the Navy or Army and since it is a little early to contact a recruiter for the 2016 year I was hoping one of you would know the answer! I also have a 3.8 GPA and it will likely stay that way considering the prereqs I have left. Is this a competitive GPA? Do you know the average GPA that is accepted? I'm not planning on being in for life, perhaps one or two commissions. Will I have better luck deploying with army or navy? Do they look mostly at GPA or is volunteer work a big thing too? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help!

You want to have your applicatoin DONE by August. September 1 is submission start window. Based on your history (medical, mental, moral) the application can take as little as 3ish weeks up to as long as 3 months. Again, its all about how "clean" you are. If you have a rather large history of medical conditions as a child, teen, etc, you will have to hunt down all your medical records and physical.

In the Navy, we look at "total Sailor concept" We dont need a bookworm with a 4.0 and does little to nothing else but study. We would prefer someone with a 3.5, works, volunteers... you get the idea :)

If you prefer to deploy to the Desert a lot, the Army is the way to go. In the Navy we deploy, but only if assigned on a ship, or if you volunteer for missions as the need comes.
